The jewel of Flims

Known as ‘Lag la Cauma’ in the Romansh language, meaning ‘lake siesta’, Lake Cauma is the jewel of Flims. Swimming, chilling out or sunbathing. Whether you’re travelling by foot or by bike, a stop at this magnificent lake is the perfect addition to your trip. It is surrounded by forest on three sides, and contains a wooded island in the centre of the lake where you can relax in complete tranquillity. Particularly striking is the turquoise-coloured and pleasantly cool water with temperatures of between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Activities

Can’t imagine anything more beautiful than spending a summer’s day at or in the lake? A trip to Lake Cauma leaves nothing to be desired. Explore the entire lake by pedal boat, swim to the little island where you can enjoy the sun or find your balance on a stand-up paddle board. Those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land can run around on the volleyball court or simply lie back and soak up the sun. Our little guests can enjoy a sandbox and a play area.

Bathing beach opening hours

The bathing beach at Lake Cauma is open from 25. May to 22. October 2017. From September 5 the beach is open without admission.

 

Dogs are not permitted in any part of the bathing area. They may be brought to the restaurant if kept on a lead.

  • Adults: Single admission CHF 12.00 / Season pass CHF 80.00
  • Children (6–16 years of age): Single admission  CHF 6.00 / Season pass CHF 40.00
  • Adults with guest pass or locals: single admission CHF 6.00 / Season pass CHF 40.00
  • Child with guest pass or locals: free

Restaurant opening hours

The restaurant at Lake Cauma is open daily from 25 May to 22 October 2017 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During high season from June to August, it remains open until 9 p.m. in fine weather.

Getting there

With the bike or on foot

With the bike you can get from Staderas, from Flims Waldhaus playground or from Flims Waldhaus Post easily on forest trails through the Flimser forest to lake Cauma.

To get to Lake Cauma you can start at Flims Waldhaus and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the forest. The path is also accessible with the buggy and by wheelchairs. The route can also be abridged with the lift. The lift runs from 8 am to 5 pm from June to August when the restaurant is open.

By public transport

The nearest bus stop is called "Flims Waldhaus Caumasee", from there it is 15 minutes on foot to the lift or another 15 minutes on forest paths to the turquoise blue lake Cauma . The path is also accessible with the buggy and by wheelchairs. The lift runs from 8 am to 5 pm from June to August when the restaurant is open.

By car

There are paid parking spaces in Flims Waldhaus, from the parking lot it takes 10 minutes to walk to the elevator, which is also accessible with the buggy or by wheelchair. The lift runs from 8 am to 5 pm from June to August when the restaurant is open. If the parking spaces in Flims Waldhaus are occupied, parking spaces are available at the event hall in Flims Dorf. From the car park at the Flims event hall to the Flims Waldhaus car park, it is a 15 minute walk.
